Yesterday I attended the Women’s Empowerment Expo in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. It was one of those experiences that made me re-evaluate the way that I do things and inspired me to create more opportunities for people to connect within my business. The reality is that building strong relationships is essential to developing a business and growing your personal brand, so I personally have made it a priority to attend live events as a way to immerse myself in the business world.

5 Reasons to Attend Live Events As a Online Business Owner

Here are 5 reasons to attend live events as an online business owner.

 

1. So you can meet your peers.

It’s so important to surround yourself with other people on a similar journey journey as you not only to uplift and cheer each other on, but also so that you can expand your network and learn together. Not to mention the awesome collaborations that can happen when a few great minds come together. Some of the people that I’ve met at live events this year have become my go-to buddies when I need advice or support. When you live and work in the online space it can be pretty easy to forget that there’s a real person behind every single profile–live events are an awesome reminder of that truth!

 

2. So you can meet your mentors.

Let me tell you what happened to me yesterday. So I’m standing by the main-stage yesterday at the Women’s Empower Expo thinking about my intentions for the day. I said this silent prayer, “God I want to meet someone who can be a mentor and guide on my journey to learn about the public speaking arena.” Just as I’m finishing my prayer a lady accidentally bumps into me on her way back to her stall and I turn around to see that it’s Darieth Chisholm, former NBC TV News Anchor and podcast host!!! Say whaaaattt??!! You just never know what experiences and opportunities will present themselves to you when you attend live events.

 

3. Immerse yourself in learning.

What better way to learn but surrounded by a tribe of the ‘Inspired’. Some of the most incredible learning opportunities happen at live events because you’re able to interact and have real discussions with people more successful than you! I say this because typically live events are hosted by some of the best minds in the business and so having the chance to tap into their intelligence is truly invaluable.

 

4. Be reminded of why you have an online business.

Sometimes you can get so stuck in your own little world behind the computer screen that you lose sight of why you even started. If you’re anything like me then you either have or you want to have a business that helps others but sometimes that gets lost in a sea of marketing strategy, sales funnels and algorithms. When you attend live events you get that human interaction that reminds you to connect to the soul of service. To me, that alone is invaluable!

 

5. Grow your personal brand and your influence.

One of the most powerful things you can do for your business is get intentional about becoming KNOWN. When you attend live events you give people an opportunity to know and connect to you. They get to see the way you dress, how you interact with them and others, and get a sense of your vibe and energy. In person people are able to connect with you in a more powerful way which is important for expanding your influence. So whether you’re a brand new business owner or have been in the game for a while its a smart idea to attend live events so you can grow your personal brand and your influence.
