My morning ritual looks like like–meditate, pray, read, journal, exercise, shower, eat. Yep, in that order. I can’t say that this has always been my method but certainly in the past few months since realizing the incredible power of slowing down. If there’s anything I’ve learned from committing daily to taking action it’s why meditation is good for business. Meditation forces you to slow down, disconnect from the bustle of life and reconnect to yourself and the now.

3 Reasons Why Meditation Is Good For Business

I’m a huge advocate for incorporating meditation into your daily routine because I have witnessed firsthand the wonderful benefits that it has not only of your life but also on your business.

Don’t believe me? Well here are 3 reasons why meditation is good for business.

It helps improve discipline.

I remember when I first started learning about mindfulness practice back in late 2014. I used to sit on the floor in my freezing cold Chicago apartment trying my hardest to stop my mind from wandering. It was so dang hard! I would fidget and peek out the corner of my eye at my phone screen to make sure I hadn’t missed any calls. I gotta say…my personal and professional life was kind of all over the place. Fast forward a few years and although I’m no meditation expert I will say that my discipline and ability to focus has dramatically improved. I can’t tell you how beneficial this has been for my business. If you’re looking for a way to keep yourself on track, then commit to just one week and you’ll soon see why meditation is good for business!

It prepares you for handling tough situations.

Like anything in life, running your own business comes with all kinds of ups and downs. You might be faced with financial hardships, unhappy clients, contractors that don’t deliver on the services you are paying them for, legal issues and all other kinds of hiccups! The practice of meditation helps you to develop non-reactivity so that you can respond in a way that you’re proud of. I’ve seen all kinds of situations defused when the people involved were cool, calm and collected. Not only that but meditation fosters peacefulness and a positivity that is crucial to aligning yourself with your true energy, which in turn will attract the clients you most want to work with.

It’s a hot place to find inspiration.

You may have heard that at the beginning of September I challenged myself to write 90 consecutive days of blog posts. My goal was not only to improve my self-discipline but also to rid myself of perfectionism and improve the speed of my content creation. At first I was a little concerned that I’d run out of things to say but here I am 52 days strong! I attribute that in large part to my daily mindfulness practice. Each morning when I get up I take up my spot on the floor or the couch and I turn on one of my guided meditations (if you’re looking for some help out the Calm app). Almost daily I’ve been hit with a topic before I get off the floor. You might call it divine inspiration or you may say I’m silent and still enough to receive guidance. Whatever the case I’m convinced that meditation is a hot place to find all kinds of inspiration. So if you’re looking to commit yourself to a project and want to be supported by an overflow of inspiration then I definitely suggesting adding meditation to your routine.
